Announcing the Tech Mentorship Program for Youth

As TLC Tech Solutions continued to grow, we knew our impact couldn’t stop with just training IT professionals—we had to start earlier. Technology access and education should begin before young adults enter the workforce, ensuring that the next generation isn’t just using technology but understanding and building with it.

Why We Launched This Program

Many young people, especially those in underserved communities, have limited exposure to real-world IT training and mentorship. Schools often focus on basic computer literacy, but few offer hands-on experiences that teach students how technology works behind the scenes.

At the same time, our interns at TLC were learning valuable mentorship and leadership skills. We realized we could bring these two groups together—pairing interns with youth to introduce them to technology in a meaningful way.

How It Works

🚀 Mentorship Pairing – Each youth participant is matched with a TLC intern who guides them through foundational computer skills.
💻 Hands-On Learning – Students learn how to work with computers, troubleshoot problem, increase efficiency by using technology, and understand cybersecurity and online-privacy basics.
🎯 Career Exploration – Exposure to different IT career paths, including support, networking, cybersecurity, AI, and more.

This isn’t just about training—it’s about giving youth a vision for their future in technology and helping them see the opportunities available to them.

A Partnership with HMC

One of the biggest challenges in launching this program was securing the right space for learning. Thanks to our collaboration with HMC, we are working to establish a dedicated computer lab where young learners can get hands-on experience in a structured, supportive environment.

Why This Matters

🔹 Bridging the Gap – Many students don’t have access to mentors in IT. This program ensures that youth from all backgrounds have the opportunity to explore technology careers.
🔹 Developing Future Leaders – Our interns aren’t just teaching—they’re learning leadership, patience, and communication skills that will serve them in their own careers.
🔹 Strengthening the Community – By equipping young people with IT skills, we’re not just helping individuals—we’re creating a stronger, more tech-savvy workforce for the future.

What’s Next?

With the Tech Mentorship Program now in motion, our focus shifts to:

Expanding partnerships with local schools and youth organizations to recruit participants.
Refining the curriculum to ensure students get the most relevant, impactful training.
Tracking outcomes to measure long-term success and ensure we’re making a real difference.

This is just the beginning. We believe in the power of mentorship, and we’re excited to help shape the future of IT—one student at a time.
